Our Programs
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)
Focused on helping humans develop life skills such as common sense, problem solving, negotiation, communication, empathy, trust and self-confidence to name a few. This program offers a fun 2-hour session of games in which 2-3 people work together as a team to choose a horse and overcome obstacles together. Each 2-hour session will focus on a specific game designed to develop a primary skill set and a few secondary skill sets.
For example:
- In silent communication, teams must not speak verbally. They must rely on their body language and gestures.
- In Blindman's Adventure, 1 team member is blindfolded while the other team member must direct the blindfolded person verbally to get him/her through the obstacles with the horse.
What do you think your results will be?
Sessions are offered as individual games or as a full 12-week program. For those who complete the full 12-week program, Equi Alliance will award a certificate.
Equine Agility
Much the same as canine agility, you must work with the horse to get him/her to complete an obstacle course. This program is focused on learning how to speak to horses through body language and energy while developing a bond and working on controlling your emotions and energy levels.
This program is divided into 3 levels. Basic Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. A checklist will be given to you, and a horse will be matched to your level. Upon completion of each level, you will be awarded a certificate.
Examples of a few tasks for each level:
Basic Beginner
- Pick out a horse's feet
- Safely lead a horse on a loose leadrope
- Turn a horse using body language
Intermediate
- Get the horse to trot next to you
- Direct each foot separately
- Back the horse up in a straight line
Advanced
- Get the horse to trot next to you off lead
- Complete obstacles off lead
- Learn tricks
Do you think you have what it takes to complete all 3 levels?
This program is for anyone with or without a horse. Learning agility with our horses can teach you how to strengthen your bond through better communication and understanding of your own horse. Or, it can simply be a fun hobby to learn if you don't have a horse.
Equine Discovery
This program's 1.5-hour session will open your eyes to horses from how to brush a horse and pick out his/her feet to learning about herd dynamics, foot care, and nutrition.
Did you know that horses have baby teeth just like humans and that they lose their baby teeth between the age of 3-4 years old?
Packed with lots of interesting information, this is the perfect program to get to know more about this majestic animal.
Things to Know!
Rules are very important to keep everyone safe, and these rules are posted in the barn when you arrive, but just a heads up of a few important rules worth mentioning to prepare for your arrival.
- Everyone MUST wear closed-toe shoes
- There is no smoking anywhere on the property
- No running, jumping or screaming is permitted
- Programs are designed for ages 10 years and up, although younger children who are more mature for their age may be accepted.
